NEW BLOG: Pentraeth Automotive Rebrand
July 26, 2024
April 2009 Pentraeth Automotive Group appoint Rockfield Media as their full-service advertising and marketing agency. Fast forward to 2024 and we proudly continue to act as the business’ off-site marketing department and an integral part of the organisation. From G Forces website content management to social media channels, and tactical sales events to customer-focused experience days, the Rockfield Team is immersed and invested in Pentraeth Group on a daily basis.
Back in 2011, the Managing Director, Mr Ken Jones tasked our design team with the creation of an icon that represented his North Wales business. At that time, having been incorporated in 1981 the business already had an established visual identity, ‘Pentraeth Group. Your Dealer for Life’ in a specific typeface had been created and introduced by Ken himself so we knew an evolution of that was required, not a reinvention.
The team presented an icon based on the Penmon Point lighthouse found on the East coast of Anglesey. With the ability to be adapted to multiple executions, including print and digital, Ken approved the design and it remained in circulation until 2021.
After a decade, and with brands represented by the business updating to Mazda, Suzuki, Kia, Subaru and Isuzu with the addition of a dedicated Aftersales Centre, a further evolution of the Pentraeth brand was requested. This request was made by Ken’s son, Joshua, in his role as Brand Manager at that time, and being the next generation of Jones to take the business forward.
Again, it was vital that a visual representation of the business’ roots was presented and that the forty-year-plus ‘Pentraeth Group’ logo continued to be incorporated. In addition, the design needed to be even more versatile given the changing marketing landscape and multi-channel routes to present and promote the business in a rapidly evolving digital age.
Considerable research took place by the team and the final design, including the logic behind the icon, was presented to both Ken and Josh for their feedback. The geometric representation of the North, East, South and West points of their beloved island of Anglesey silenced the room. Thankfully for us, in a very positive way. The icon was wholeheartedly approved and is now represented throughout the business on almost every design execution on and offline.
From building signage to Point of Sale. From vehicle signwriting to event pop-up gazebos, the Pentraeth Group Island Icon is the corporate thread that runs throughout this incredible business and is instantly recognisable.
It represents stability, locality, quality and we are incredibly proud to be the marketing team behind the scenes at Pentraeth Group.
